The University of New York in Prague (UNYP) is a private higher education institution located in the vibrant city of Prague, Czech Republic. As the largest English-language university in the country, UNYP offers a diverse array of bachelor's and master's programs in partnership with esteemed international universities in the United States and Europe. This unique collaboration enables students to earn both American and Czech degrees, making UNYP the only private Czech university to provide such an opportunity. With a multicultural student body representing over 80 countries and a distinguished faculty from more than 30 nations, UNYP delivers an enriching, globally-oriented educational experience right in the heart of Europe.

History

UNYP was founded in April 1998 in collaboration with the State University of New York at New Paltz and Empire State University, both part of the State University of New York (SUNY). Through this partnership, UNYP provides its students with the opportunity to earn an internationally recognized American bachelor's degree from the State University of New York, Empire State University. UNYP also closely cooperates with its sister college, New York College in Athens, Greece, which has over twenty years of experience offering international bachelor's and master's programs, including international MBA programs in partnership with accredited American and European universities.

UNYP received official state recognition from the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports of the Czech Republic in 2001 when its first study programs were accredited. These programs receive new accreditation every four years. Initially located in the historic old town of Prague, on the corner of Mikovcova and Legerova streets, UNYP moved to a new campus on Londýnská 41 in Vinohrady (Prague 2) in 2014.

Academic programs

UNYP offers accredited bachelor's degrees, master's programs and MBA programs in English, in partnership with universities in the United States and across Europe. More than 60% of faculty members hold doctoral degrees, most frequently from Charles University or the Prague University of Economics. UNYP is a member of the British Accreditation Council for Independent Further and Higher Education.

Undergraduate programs

The University of New York in Prague (UNYP) offers bachelor's programs, all taught in English by experienced faculty. Accredited by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports (MŠMT) and in partnership with Empire State University, part of the State University of New York, successful graduates can earn a dual degree, receiving both a Czech and an American diploma.

Business Administration – European Bachelor's Program

This program provides comprehensive education in various areas of international business, including marketing, management, finance, and more. Students can choose from seven different concentrations: Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Sports Management, Behavioral Economics, Data Analytics, and Entrepreneurship.

Business Administration – American Bachelor's Program

The four-year American bachelor's program in Business Administration aims to prepare students for careers in business and entrepreneurship. The program provides a general overview of topics related to business management and offers students the chance of picking one of the previously mentioned concentrations within the Business field.

Psychology

This bachelor's program aims to provide students with a solid foundation in psychology and practical experience in all major fields of psychology. It prepares students for various career paths within the discipline.

International Relations

The International Relations program offers a wide curriculum to understand the world in which we are living. The program focuses on providing students with a strong foundation in political, economic, and international relations theory and practice. Students can choose from the following concentrations: Diplomacy and international law, Conflict and security studies, and Global governance.

Communication and Media

The Communication and Media  degree aims to meet the urgent need for communication professionals who understand the central role of communication in today’s world and can make it work for the betterment of society. Students can choose from the following concentrations: Public relations, Media marketing, and Multimedia journalism.

English Language and Literature

The English Language and Literature programme is a degree in cultural studies and focuses on fostering the development of broadly educated individuals who can apply their knowledge and skills creatively and flexibly in a broad range of situations and prepares them for a wide range of careers in the fields of education, law, public relations and social media, or for further study at the postgraduate level.

Information Technology

The Information Technology  program prepares students for entry-level professional positions in the field of IT in the global business and public sectors. This four-year degree is awarded by the State University of New York, Empire State University.

Digital Media Arts

The multidisciplinary Digital Media Arts programme integrates traditional areas of Communication and Media study (including media effects, culture, political economy, linguistics, and psychology) with digital media creativity and creation in the areas of video, web, and mobile applications.

Psychology

A master's degree in psychology is essential for careers in various psychology fields, from clinical work to academic research. The postgraduate psychology program at UNYP thoroughly prepares students both theoretically and practically.

MBA Programs

The MBA program at UNYP is IACBE accredited and meets the requirements of top business programs, offering opportunities for current and future leaders to enhance their management skills. UNYP offers MBA programs with concentrations in Management, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Marketing, Neuromanagement, and Global Business Services.

MSc. Programs

The Master of Science in Digital Marketing and Analytics programme is offered by UNYP, in collaboration with Dublin Business School (DBS), Ireland. Graduates of the Master of Science in Digital Marketing and Analytics will gain a thorough understanding of the core principles of digital marketing and analytics, will be able to utilise data and visualisation tools, apply appropriate marketing models at work, and make ethical business decisions.

Accreditation

UNYP has been a part of the higher education system of the Czech Republic since 2001, when it was recognized by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports as a private higher education institution on the basis of the accreditation of its study programs.[1] Currently, six-degree programs at UNYP are accredited by the Czech Ministry of Education and Czech National Accreditation Bureau for Higher Education, and lead to a Bachelor's or master's degree awarded by UNYP:[2]

Internationally, UNYP is accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC),[3] and the university's business programs (MBA and 3-year Bachelor's program) are accredited by the US-based International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE).[4] In the Czech Republic, UNYP's MBA program has also been accredited by the Czech Association of MBA Schools since 2003.[5] Several UNYP higher education programs are approved by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for United States veterans and their eligible dependents to use their veterans benefits.

UNYP joined the American Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic in 1999, the Czech Association of MBA Schools (CAMBAS) in 2003, and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic in 2014. It is also a member of the Central and East European Management Development Association (CEEMAN), an association of business education providers in Central and Eastern Europe.
