Visitors to Nigeria require a visa unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries. All visitors must hold a passport valid for 6 months.

[edit]Citizens of the following countries and territories can visit Nigeria without a visa:[1]

- Visa is also not required for former nationals of Nigeria holding a valid foreign passport together with proof of an expired Nigerian passport.
- Holders of diplomatic, official and service passports issued to nationals of Brazil, China, Namibia, Singapore and South Africa and holders of diplomatic passports only issued to nationals of Turkey do not require a valid visa to enter Nigeria for up to 30 days.
- Visa exemption agreement for holders of diplomatic and official passports was signed with Vietnam in October 2019 and it is yet to be ratified.[3]
- Nationals of China holding passports for public affairs do not require a visa for a maximum stay of 30 days.
Visa on arrival
[edit]Nationals of the African Union member states who are not visa-exempt may obtain a visa on arrival in Nigeria if they hold ordinary passports.[1] |
Electronic Visa (e-Visa)
[edit]Holders of a written e-Visa approval issued by Immigration Authority Headquarters in Abuja can obtain a visa on arrival, provided holding a visa application form and e-Visa application payment receipt and holding an invitation letter from Nigerian company accepting immigration responsibilities.[1]
A simplified eVisa process was announced in July 2024.[4]
