Unstoppable is an upcoming American biographical sports drama film directed by William Goldenberg in his feature directorial debut. Written by Eric Champnella, Alex Harris and John Hindman, it is based on the 2012 book of the same name by Anthony Robles (who also serves as producer) and Austin Murphy. It is produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon through Artists Equity, and Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas through Nuyorican Productions. It stars Jharrel Jerome as Robles,[1] with a supporting cast that includes Jennifer Lopez, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, and Don Cheadle.[2][3]

Unstoppable is set to premiere in the Special Presentations section at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival in September 2024, followed by a limited theatrical release in December 2024, by Amazon MGM Studios.

The project was announced in March 2023, with William Goldenberg set to direct in his directorial debut. Goldenberg has collaborated with filmmaker Ben Affleck as film editor for Gone Baby Gone, Argo, Live by Night, and Air. Affleck and Matt Damon will serve as producers through the Artists Equity banner. It was also announced that Jennifer Lopez will star in the film, with Jharrel Jerome playing Anthony Robles.[4][5]

Principal photography began in Los Angeles in May 2023, but was halted two weeks later due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike.[6] On December 12, 2023, principal photography resumed after the end of the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, with Don Cheadle, Michael Peña, and Bobby Cannavale joining the cast.[7] On January 14, 2024, it was announced that principal photography had wrapped.[8]

Release

In July 2024, Unstoppable was announced as part of the Gala section of the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival scheduled for September 2024.[9] The film will be released by Amazon MGM Studios.
