American tennis player (born 2008)
Tyra Caterina Grant (born March 12, 2008) is an American tennis player. She won the junior Grand Slam girls' doubles titles at the 2023 French Open , 2024 Australian Open and the 2024 Wimbledon Championships .
Early and personal life [ edit ]
Born and raised in Italy, Grant is the daughter of American former basketball player Tyrone Grant , who relocated to Italy to play basketball, and Cinzia Giovinco, an Italian model.[ 1] She trained at the Piatti Tennis Center in Bordighera , before later moving to Orlando, Florida to train with the United States Tennis Association.[ 2] [ 3] She has a younger brother called Tyson who is also a tennis player.[ 4] Her mother also acts as her manager.[ 5]
In December 2022, Grant partnered Iva Jovic to win the doubles title at the Orange Bowl in Miami Beach .[ 6]
She won the final of the girls' doubles draw at the 2023 French Open as a fifteen year-old, alongside partner Clervie Ngounoue against the top seeds Alina Korneeva and Sara Saito .[ 7] [ 8]
She has a career-high ITF junior combined ranking of 12 achieved on 1 January 2024. That month, she won the 2024 Australian Open Girls' doubles title alongside compatriot Iva Jovic .[ 9] The pair also reached the final of the Girls' doubles at the 2024 French Open .[ 10] Grant and Jovic won the Girls' doubles title at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships .[ 11]
