The archdeacons in the Church of England are senior Anglican clergy who serve under their dioceses' bishops, usually with responsibility for the area's church buildings and pastoral care for clergy. As of 15 April 2024[update], there are 132 archdeacons (including vacancies): four archdeacons hold two archdeaconries each, while six hold no territorial archdeaconry.

Resignations and retirements
[edit]- ^ It has been announced that Cockett intends to retire effective 30 September 2024; he is to be succeeded by Mike Power in October.[3]
