Deborah Liu is an American technology executive and the CEO of Ancestry.com since 2021.[1] Liu serves on the board of Intuit[2] and Women in Product.[3][4]

Education and life

Liu is of Chinese descent.[5] Her parents emigrated to the U.S. in the 60s and she was raised in a small town in South Carolina.[6] She is a graduate of Duke University (B.S.E in Civil Engineering) and Stanford Business School.[7]

Career

Liu was director of product for the end-to-end buyer experience at eBay and spearheaded the integration between eBay and PayPal.[2][8] She was director of product marketing management and product management at PayPal.[9]

In 2009, she joined Facebook,[10] where she worked on Facebook Credits and Facebook Platform[11] and helped build their mobile app install ad business.[12] In 2016, as VP of product development, she founded Facebook Marketplace[5][13] and became VP of marketplace in 2017.[14]

After being at Facebook for 11 years, Liu joined Ancestry.com as its CEO, effective March 1, 2021.[15]

She was included on Business Insider's list of "The Most Powerful Female Engineers"[16] and PaymentsSource's list of "The Most Influential Women in Payments",[17] and is a member of the Committee of 100.[18]

In August 2022, she published her first book "Take Back Your Power: 10 New Rules for Women at Work".[5]

Liu is a seed investor and advisor to startups.[19]
