Rosemary Anne Leonard (born 22 July 1956)[1] MBE MA MB BChir MRCGP DRCOG[2] is a British general practitioner and journalist.
Biography
[edit]Leonard was born in London;[1] she went to the girls' grammar school Dr Challoner's High School in Little Chalfont.[citation needed] She then went to the all-female Newnham College, Cambridge where she graduated with double first-class honours,[2] before completing her training at St Thomas's Hospital Medical School.[3]
Leonard is a GP in Dulwich, South London.[4] She has written for national newspapers and magazines, including Hello!, The Sun, the Daily Mail and the Daily Express[1][2] since 1986. She has been the resident GP for BBC Breakfast News since 1998.[1] She was a member of the Committee on Safety of Medicines and a Non-executive Director of the Health Protection Agency.[2]
Leonard has two sons.[5]
Work associated with the tobacco industry
[edit]Leonard served as a Commissioner on a report funded by the Foundation for a Smoke-Free World. The foundation is, in turn, funded by tobacco company Philip Morris International.
