"Lobortas" Classic Jewelry House (before 2006 – Lobortas Jewelry House) is a Ukrainian jewellery company.
Overview
[edit]Lobortas Classic Jewelry House is a jewelry company, founded in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, in 1997. It was formed out of a collaboration among designers, architects and jewelry makers.[1] The house is known to make handcrafted jewelry, including jewels with hard-fired enamels, by using an ancient technique brought to the medieval state of Kyivan Rus from Byzantium.
Notable Projects
[edit]On July 21, 2011, the company set a Guinness World Record by inserting 2,525 cut diamonds in one ring, known as "Tsarevna Swan".[2][3] This world record was later surpassed by an Indian company.[4]
In 2003, the Lobortas House took part in the leading jewelry art exhibition Joaillier Créateurs in Paris. The Wall Street Journal (Europe) described their work in Studio Lobortas as "the most romantic at the Paris show".[1]
In July 2022, following the outbreak of war in Ukraine, the company donated several pieces of jewelries for a fundraiser in Windsor, Canada. This initiative raised over $46,000 Canadian Dollars used to donate supplies to the people of Ukraine.[5] The company also donated jewellery to a fundraiser, which they used to support a local charity in their area.[6]
