Skalborg is a southern neighbourhood of Aalborg.
"City Syd", a large shopping district, and Skalborg Sportsklub with Football, Handball, Badminton and Table tennis are located in Skalborg.
Skalborg is served by Skalborg railway station, located on the Randers–Aalborg railway line. Skalborg[1] is a district in the southern part of Aalborg approx. six kilometers south of Aalborg Centre. Skalborg's planning area is 8 km² and there are 6,628 (2009) inhabitants.[2] Skalborg was originally an independent village that arose around a collection of emigrant farms where today you find the intersection Nibevej-Hobrovej[3] Historically, the railway has also played a large role in the development of Skalborg, where a town formed in connection with Skalborg station.
In 2017, Aalborg Municipality decided to create an urban development plan for Skalborg[4], which has meant that large parts of the district have been renovated, e.g. (Grønnegården[5]), and that new residential areas such as Oasen[6], Sofiendal Enge[7] and Sofiendalen[8] has arisen. In short, Aalborg Municipality has a desire to transform Skalborg into a residential area to a greater extent than in 2017, and green areas and cycle paths are being established to support this plan.
Since 1992, there has also been a large and ongoing focus on retail and business in Skalborg. This is shown, for example, by a doubling of City Syd's area, as well as businesses along Indkildevej/Hobrovej.
