History
[edit]War in Donbas
[edit]The 6th Separate Cossack Motorized Rifle Brigade was formed in 2014 as the 1st Cossack Regiment. It was under the command of Pavel Dremov.[1] On 9 January 2015, the regiment was renamed as the 6th Separate Cossack Motorized Rifle Regiment.[2] The regiment would then take part in the Battle of Debaltseve. On 12 December 2015, regiment's commander, Pavel Dremov was killed on a highway near Pervomaisk.[3]
Russian invasion of Ukraine
[edit]The regiment took part in the battle of Lysychansk, where 240 members of the regiment were killed.[4] In 2023, the regiment was transformed into a brigade and became attached to the 2nd Army Corps. The brigade took part in the 2023 Ukrainian counteroffensive.[5]
