[ редактировать ]После того, как он получил свою историческую агрегацию в 1967 году, Патрик Ле Ру защитил диссертацию своего государства под названием « Римская армия и организацию иберийских провинций Августа» во время вторжения в 409 в марте 1980 года в Университете Бордо Монтеня под руководством Роберта Этьенна .

[ редактировать ]If he first worked on the Roman army and remained faithful throughout his professional career to the history of Roman Spain and epigraphic sources, Patrick Le Roux brought his analysis and reflection of historian of antiquity to questions as diverse as those related to Latin law, the world of cities, Roman citizenship and Roman western provinces. He actively participated in several important debates within the community, for example on "romanisation". Finally, he has contributed to the systematic inclusion of historiographical constructions in research on Roman history.
His current work focuses on the Roman provincial stories compared to contemporary national models, without neglecting research on the inscriptions, cities and armies of Roman times.
