Пер-Олов Лёвдин (28 октября 1916 — 6 октября 2000) — шведский физик , профессор Уппсальского университета с 1960 по 1983 год и параллельно — Университета Флориды до 1993 года.

Бывший аспирант Ивара Уоллера , Лёвдин сформулировал в 1950 году схему симметричной ортогонализации для расчетов атомных и молекулярных орбиталей , значительно упростив метод сильной связи . ^[1]^[2] Эта схема лежит в основе приближения нулевого дифференциала перекрытия (ZDO), используемого в полуэмпирических теориях.
