[edit]The Estonian men's senior football team started the year with a training camp in Portugal, playing friendly matches against Sweden and Finland. Most players were from the Premium Liiga because the games didn't match the FIFA international schedule, so players from foreign clubs had to stick with their teams. In March, they entered a new qualifying tournament and held a lead against Austria for about 40 minutes but ended up losing 1–2. The next match against Azerbaijan ended in a 1–1 draw. However, the team faced difficulties in the following six qualifying games, resulting in a not-so-great goal difference of 0:19.
