Программа Searle Scholars - это награда за развитие карьеры, вручаемую ежегодно для поддержки 15 молодых преподавателей в области биомедицинских исследований и химии в университетах США и исследовательских центрах. Цель награды состоит в том, чтобы поддержать исключительные молодые ученые, которые в начале своей независимой исследовательской карьеры и работают в области медицины, химии и/или биологических наук. История наград
[ редактировать ]Награда была создана в 1980 году пожертвованием от трастов, созданных Джоном Дж. И Фрэнсис С. Сирлом. [ 1 ] Джон Сирл занимал должность президента GD Searle & Company , фармацевтической компании, известной тем, что разработала первые таблетки для контроля над рождаемостью. [ 2 ] Программа финансируется за счет Чикагского общественного траста и управляется Фондом родства. [ 1 ]
Процесс награждения
[ редактировать ]Кандидаты должны заниматься независимой исследовательской карьерой в области биохимии, клеточной биологии, генетики, иммунологии, нейробиологии, фармакологии и связанных с ними областей химии, медицины и биологических наук, [ 1 ] и должен быть на первом или втором курсе своей первой позиции профессора. [ 3 ] Кандидаты в 176 университетах имеют право быть назначенными. [ 4 ] Грантополучатели получают гранты на сумму 300 000 долларов США, выплачиваемые в течение 3 лет. [ 5 ]
